Three Layers of Revision: How to Become the Best Editor of Your Own Work

A 2-Week In-Person Fiction Workshop

2 Saturdays, January 25 & February 1, 1-4 PM

Most writers know the importance of revision, yet too often it feels like going over the same sentence to no effect. In this class, we will discuss a creative approach to revision which takes into account the stage of the process the writers find themselves in, as well as the particular needs of the draft. The first meeting will include a brief lecture and several writing prompts that will allow students to try different revision techniques. In the second meeting, students will have an opportunity to share a revised story or fragment and to receive targeted feedback on the needs of the current draft. This class is ideal for students with some experience in writing short fiction and will be most useful to those who have a short story draft they wish to revise.

SUBMIT: Excerpt of manuscript (up to 3,000 words) for review to programs@mainewriters.org by January 11th.

$120 Members/$175 Nonmembers
